Bentley’s First Electric Car Seen on Public Roads

Luxury carmaker Bentley has finally started testing its first-ever electric vehicle (EV) on public roads. The car is expected to make its official debut in mid-2026, and deliveries are planned for early 2027.

A New Luxury Electric SUV

Bentley describes this model as a “luxury urban SUV” designed for premium performance and comfort. It will be slightly smaller than the Bentayga SUV but will carry Bentley’s signature elegant design and luxury feel.

The prototype features a flat hood, square-shaped front, and wide rear fenders, giving it a strong and bold appearance. Interestingly, unlike most EVs that use hidden door handles for aerodynamics, this Bentley keeps traditional handles, adding a classic touch.

Shared Technology with Porsche Cayenne EV

While Bentley has not revealed full specifications, reports suggest the car will share its platform with the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV.

If true, it could include:

Wireless charging via an inductive pad.

An 800-volt system for faster charging.

A 108 kWh battery with support for up to 400 kW charging speeds.

These features hint that Bentley’s EV will deliver excellent range and fast-charging capability, perfect for luxury drivers.

Bentley’s Future Plans

According to Autocar, this new model was spotted shortly after CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser confirmed that Bentley plans to launch at least one new hybrid or electric model every year until 2030.

Although the company knows that demand for luxury EVs is slower, Bentley remains dedicated to its electric future and plans to go fully electric by 2030.

A Step Toward an Electric Future

This upcoming SUV marks a major milestone for Bentley. Positioned below the Bentayga, it will help the brand move closer to becoming a fully electric luxury automaker.

Pakistani car enthusiasts are excited to see global brands like Bentley and Porsche investing in EVs, as electric mobility slowly gains popularity worldwide.
