Karachi Schools Reopen After Heavy Rains and Floods

Private schools in Karachi have reopened after being closed for several days due to heavy monsoon rains and urban flooding. The announcement was made by All Private Schools Management Association Sindh (APSMA) Chairman, Syed Tariq Shah.

Saturday to Be a School Day

To make up for the missed classes, APSMA has decided that Saturdays will now be regular school days. According to Shah, this step is important to cover the academic gap caused by repeated weather-related closures.

Karachi Hit Hard by Monsoon Rains

The recent spell of rain badly affected life in Karachi. Low-lying areas were flooded, while the Malir and Lyari rivers overflowed, raising water levels. Several major roads and residential areas were also submerged, making daily travel very difficult for citizens.

Government’s Earlier Decision

Earlier, the Sindh government had ordered the closure of all schools in Karachi after a weather warning from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). PMD had predicted heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across the city.

Back to Routine

With the reopening, students, teachers, and parents are hopeful that the academic year can get back on track. The Saturday classes will help cover the missed lessons and reduce the learning loss caused by the rains.
