KP Government Opens Jobs for Associate Degree Holders

Peshawar (Latest News) – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced good news for students. Candidates with associate degrees will now be eligible to apply for government jobs across the province.

Provincial Higher Education Minister Meena Khan Afridi said the decision will create more job opportunities and make the education system flexible.

The two-year associate degree program, which includes four semesters, will now be officially recognized along with BS programs in colleges and universities. According to Afridi, only BS programs with fewer admissions have been changed into associate degree tracks.

This move allows students to:

  • Complete an associate degree in 2 years.

  • Apply directly for government jobs.

  • Continue studies to complete a BS degree at any recognized university in Pakistan.

The minister added that this step is in line with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) policy, which allows associate degree holders to pursue higher studies without restrictions.

Education experts and students welcomed the decision, saying it will:

  • Reduce financial burden on families.

  • Improve access to higher education.

  • Create better career opportunities for youth in KP.

This reform is seen as a positive step for Pakistan’s education sector and will benefit thousands of students looking for jobs and affordable education pathways.
