Recent reports claiming that the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has scrapped the dedicated bike lane on Ferozepur Road sparked widespread confusion among commuters and social media users. However, LDA has officially denied these rumors, calling the viral news “false” and “clickbait.”
According to Osama Mehmood, Public Relations Officer of LDA, the bike lane project remains intact. He clarified that the removal of concrete dividers on certain sections of the road was a temporary measure taken by Traffic Police Lahore to reduce accident risks during peak hours, not an indication of the project’s cancellation.
A ground survey confirmed the situation:
Chungi to Kalma Flyover – Dividers were removed for safety reasons, but bikes continue to use the lane.
Kalma Flyover to Qaddafi Flyover – Dividers remain in place, and the bike lane is fully operational.
LDA reiterated that the bike lane project is still part of Lahore’s long-term urban mobility plan, aimed at easing traffic congestion and promoting safer, eco-friendly commuting.
Despite misleading reports, the Ferozepur Road bike lane is active, with adjustments made solely to prioritize commuter safety.
