Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday visited the flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains and flash floods. The Premier carried out an aerial survey of the worst-hit districts to review the extent of destruction and evaluate the needs of the affected communities.
He was accompanied by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, who lauded the tireless efforts of Pakistan Army troops engaged in relief operations across the province.
Pakistan Army on the Frontline of Relief
General Asim Munir highlighted that soldiers are working around the clock to rescue stranded families, deliver food supplies, and provide medical support in hard-to-reach areas. Speaking during his visit to Buner, the Army Chief stressed that the safety and well-being of citizens remain the top priority.
He directed all army units to perform their duties with full commitment and assured the people that the military will not hold back in helping those who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones.
KP Government Announces Rs. 2 Billion for Relief
Alongside military assistance, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has intensified its relief efforts. Authorities have announced the release of an additional Rs. 2 billion to support flood operations. The funds will be used to provide temporary shelter, clean drinking water, food supplies, and rehabilitation work across affected districts.
Officials emphasized that both immediate relief and long-term rehabilitation are being treated as priorities. Civil and military institutions are working together to minimize the suffering of displaced families and help them rebuild their lives.
Assurances for Recovery and Rehabilitation
The government also pledged to restore damaged infrastructure, protect vulnerable communities, and provide timely updates on recovery efforts. With the joint efforts of the federal government, provincial authorities, and the military, Pakistan aims to bring normalcy back to flood-hit regions as quickly as possible.
