💼 Punjab Increases Minimum Wage to Rs. 40,000

The Punjab government has officially raised the minimum wage for workers to Rs. 40,000 per month. A notification was issued by the Labour and Human Resource Department confirming the decision.

According to the notification, all adult and adolescent workers in industrial and commercial workplaces across Punjab will now get at least Rs. 40,000 per month for 26 working days.

📊 Wage Breakdown

  • Daily wage: Rs. 1,538.46 (for an 8-hour shift)

  • Hourly wage: Rs. 192.31

Employers may deduct limited allowances if agreed with workers, including:

  • Rs. 100 per meal (food)

  • Rs. 1,800 per month (transport)

  • Rs. 2,000 per month (accommodation)

⚖️ Equal Pay for All

The government has made it clear that:

  • If workers are already receiving higher wages, salaries cannot be reduced.

  • Employers can still pay more depending on skill and experience.

  • Female workers must be paid the same as male workers for work of equal value.

This step is seen as a major relief for workers facing rising inflation across Punjab, including big cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi.
