The World Bank has approved a $47.9 million grant to improve primary education in Punjab, aiming to expand access, inclusivity, and quality learning across the province. The funding, provided through the Global Partnership for Education, will play a vital role in strengthening Punjab’s education system.
According to officials, the project will benefit over four million children, including 80,000 out-of-school students, more than three million enrolled in public schools, around 850,000 in the non-formal sector, and 140,000 differently-abled students.
Beyond students, the initiative will also support over 100,000 teachers, school leaders, and parents through professional training, development programs, and awareness campaigns. Authorities highlighted that the project will focus on early childhood education, re-enrollment of out-of-school children, and robust teacher training and support mechanisms.
The move aligns with Punjab’s broader education reform agenda, emphasizing inclusivity, accountability, and effective governance to ensure long-term improvements in the education sector.
